Good afternoon Pirates! The amount and intensity of snow this morning was definitely a surprise and unfortunately, has created some very slick conditions given the wetness of the snow. Although the main roads will begin seeing improvements as the day goes on, our side/back roads may still be challenging given the slickness of the snow and we fully anticipate our buses needing more time this afternoon to effectively make their runs on time. Thus, WE ARE RELEASING THE HIGH SCHOOL AND PATHFINDER STUDENTS 20 MINUTES EARLY so that our buses can make it back for the elementary runs. The HS will release at 2:10 and Pathfinder at 2:24, with Farley Hill, Country and Navigator releasing at their normal time. Also, all after school events will proceed as scheduled, unless otherwise notified. Thank you and have a great afternoon!

Good evening Pirates. Just providing a quick update on our intentions for school tomorrow. First and foremost, we know there are still some spots throughout our district that have standing ice on the back roads, despite the warmer temps and efforts by the road commission to scrape the dirt roads. At the same time, we have seen improvements in many areas that have made travel safer, although driving with caution still needs to be at the forefront. With that being said, we are planning on moving forward with school tomorrow, with our transportation team assessing the known trouble spots early (4am), hoping to see improvements on the known icy areas. Depending on the conditions, we may need to re-route buses, contact families to make adjustments or there may be instances were we just can't get the buses to the stop. We anticipate these instances to be minimal if at all, but nevertheless, something we may need to contend with. For those parents who feel that it is not safe for you to transport you child to school or have your high student drive because of the ice present on your road, please know that it is o.k. to keep your child home. Any change in this plan will be communicated as soon as we are able. Thank you and enjoy your evening. ~Rick

Good evening Pirates! Although many of the main roads in our area have drastically improved, the many back/dirt roads, along with paved roads within many subdivisions remain iced over, with some being impassible. The road commission informed us that there will be no improvement to these roads until tomorrow and with temps hovering around the freezing mark tonight, conditions will remain too dangerous to run school. Thus, PCS will be cancelling school for Wednesday, Jan. 24. Additional information regarding after school events/athletics will be provided tomorrow by noon. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility. Have a great evening. ~Rick Todd

Please be safe if you have to travel this morning and we look forward to seeing our students back in class tomorrow. All community education events are cancelled for this evening and more info about scheduled athletic events/practices will be forthcoming later today. ~Rick Todd

Good evening Pirates. As shared in my email this morning, we are concerned with the temperatures that will be present throughout Wednesday morning as they are expected to range between -15 and -20 degrees (windchill temps) and all the weather models are pretty consistent with this projection and thus, we will be closing school on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Given the temperature will rise to approximately 16 degrees by the afternoon, all scheduled athletic and community education events will proceed as normal. Thank you for understanding and appreciate your support. GO PIRATES!! ~Rick

NOTICE: M36 has just been cleared to reopen as Charter was extremely responsive and was able to get the wire off the road and all normal traffic patterns can resume as normal. We thank you for your flexibility and understanding and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused as this happened at the very worst time. Thank you.

NOTICE: A gravel truck has just knocked down a wire (communications/fiber we believe) right in front of Navigator School at the exit drive. The fire department has closed M-36 at McGregor/M36 and at Farley Rd/M36 as we are waiting for DTE and/or Charter to arrive on the scene. Our buses will be able to pick up our students at Pathfinder (2:45) and will be able to transport our students home. However, parents who are coming to pick up their child at Pathfinder MUST use the entrance off of McGregor if coming from the east or if coming from the west, please use Darwin rd. to access McGregor. Law enforcement will be on site to help direct traffic. We are hoping that this issue will be resolved by the time we will dismiss for elementary. We will keep you posted. Thank you.
