Although you may have already received information about this, I want to make sure that our entire community is aware of the new mandatory School Safety Response Protocols we must now use when a situation requires any sort of lockdown, evacuation, shelter, etc. These new protocols originated from the Iloveuguys organization and have been adopted by schools throughout the nation and world. We spent last week training our Pirate staff on these protocols and are now in the process of teaching our students, which for our students in grades 3-12, will include this informative video that we recommend parents watch as well. It is only 5 minutes in length and can be viewed here. Posters similar to the one below will be posted in every classroom in the district, along with being visible on our digital displays and non-instructional spaces.
It's important for our parents and community to become familiar with these terms as we will be using them whenever we need to communicate a drill or event that may require us to utilize one of these protocols. We appreciate your engagement and support as we continue to work in partnership in an effort to keep our students and staff safe.
