Welcome Everyone to the 2022-2023 School Year

Discussion on what the purpose of the Farley Hill PTO is and why we are here.

  • To support our students, families, community, and Farley Hill Staff

  • To encourage connections and bring people together

  • Be the village!

  • To give all the kids at Farley Hill a special Elementary school experience

Thank you to the Harrison family (and PTO for funds) for all the improvements at the sandboxes, toys, and other awesome additions.

Fundraiser Kick-Off coming to the teachers by 9/22.

  • This is the way the school raises most of the funds for the PTO. (Secondary is the spring flower basket sales) A list of events and items will be communicated to parents.

(FREE school events, teacher requests for academic and social needs/groups, etc..)

  • Parents suggested that we should offer to parents that do not want the fundraiser prizes to be donated to the birthday prize box.

Budget Review

- Major thanks to our treasurer Laura Harrison for keeping exceptional records and for notifying us that our funds are higher than usual thanks to all our efforts.

- $8,000 is needed to start each school year. Up $10,000 due to additional efforts and lack of events during the height of COVID. $6,000 is used on events every year but we are happy to approve some new requests!

- All of last year's efforts will be repeated this year (Math Superstar support, Field Trip coverage, all of the events, teacher book/poster requests, etc.)

- We get an additional $2,000 added to the funds every year with our flower sales

Lunchroom requests for lanyards, spoons, forks, straws, ketchup, ranch, and napkins.

  • 2 large Costco-size ketchup bottles and ranches are needed per month. Laura to purchase for them for the year. Other items are found in the PTO closet that can be used except for spoons. More will be provided as needed. * Many thanks because this allows students to eat their lunch with the things they need.

  • Lanyards to be donated by Christina Funk.

Fall Festival 2022

  • Was going to be 10/6 but now the date will be October 13. Date later due to the other district events.

  • Mrs. Taylor to contact Chambers farm to provide wagon rides

  • Schell Family Farm to donate pumpkins for the event.

  • Tattoo station and candy guessing jars (1 for each grade and 1 nut-free jar). Christina F to coordinate.

  • Coordination of popcorn and hotdogs for the event. Single-serve packets for condiments, extras to lunchroom or food pantry. DJ is to be hired for the event as well!

  • Christina to create a sign-up genius for donuts, cider, and apples for the event by 9/18 for teachers to share

Landscaping- Ms. Lisa brought up that some clean-up is needed along with some landscaping.

  • Short term- request a fall clean-up on Facebook then gather at the desired date/time

  • Long-term- request that any Farley family that landscapes and has an interest in helping with long-term landscaping goals to notify PTO/ Mrs. Taylor.

Birthday Book Club-

  • Reminder fliers to be shared with Farley families with how they can participate. The shelf in the library is almost completed with students’ donation labels inside the books to share.

Principal Report- Farley was recognized for their MTSS behavioral efforts by the state. This was accomplished in a short time! More information to come and what this means. Many kudos from Mrs. Taylor.

Teacher Report- Many thanks for the donations to the library. There was $12,000 worth of books purchased (500+ books) added to our library from our Fun Run fundraiser and Book Fair sales. More books are still to come in. The students loved all the new options and the look of the shelves. Thank you, Mrs. Lambert, for all your efforts!

Additional discussion-

  • More time for additional cereal boxes to come in because there isn’t enough to create a domino effect

  • Request for a double-sided clothing rack for the lost and found was approved with hopes to improve it

  • Mrs. Lambert has requested bean bags (wipeable) for the students to lounge in the library. More research/ information to be provided and approved before ordering

Additional topics to be discussed at the next meeting.
