School news

Dear School Families,

The official start to our new school year is just two weeks away! We are busy preparing for what we hope to be our best year ever. Positive and frequent communication will be key to our success in the coming weeks. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions that we can help answer. I want to thank you for your amazing words of support these last few weeks. This means so much to our entire staff.

This newsletter contains information about the following topics:

Building Routines and Procedures

  • Student pick up/ drop off - During Phase 4 of our Back to School Road Map, parents, guardians and community members will not be able to enter the building unless you have a previously scheduled appointment. All students who are not riding the bus will need to be dropped off and picked up at our playground black top, following the designated traffic pattern. Please remember to sign up on the survey that we sent out if you are planning to use the pick up loop this year. We will be sure to get the color coded signs to you soon. Here is the link to that survey:

  • Dropping off items for your child during the school day - There are days when we race out the door and forget our lunch, a library book, snow boots, etc. When you need to bring an item to school for your child, please ring the doorbell and our staff will greet you. You will be able to enter the main doors and leave your child’s item in a marked bin. Please be sure to put your child’s name and teacher’s name on the item. We will be sure to get it to your child right away.

  • Medication drop off procedures - Please make an appointment with the secretary to drop off medication for your child.  You can reach Mrs. Podhola at (810)225-6400

  • Masks are required for all students K-3 while in school. Parents can help by getting their kids used to wearing masks for increasing intervals even before school begins.  There will be many mask breaks during the school day including recess, lunch, and snacktime to name a few.  Over the past week, we have met our NEW Kindergarten students in preparation for the school year.  They did a wonderful job with wearing their masks during this visit.

  • Water Bottles - I would encourage each child to bring a water bottle to school daily.  Our drinking fountain nozzles will be replaced with water bottle filling spouts to keep our little ones hydrated throughout the day. Please be sure that your child’s name is on the water bottle.

  • Daily Home Health Child Screening - We are asking each family to screen their child prior to sending them to school for the day.  We all have a responsibility to keep our students and community safe.  Please click here for the Home Health Screening Checklist  Thank you for doing your part!

We are continually updating our school website with information about these new procedures.  Click here to access the Farley Hill Elementary website https://www.pinckneypirates.org/o/farley-hill
