Meet the Principal

Welcome to Farley Hill! Everywhere I go, I hear how incredible Farley Hill Elementary is - and I couldn’t be prouder to be the principal here! I value and honor all of the wonderful work that has been happening, and all that is to come at Farley Hill! My goal as the building leader is simple - Support our students and staff so they can continue to shine! In newsletters to come, I will highlight important updates about our staff, students, or the building—anything I want to make sure is on your radar. Since this may be my first proper introduction for some of you, let me take this opportunity to share a bit about who I am and how you can connect with me.

At home, I am the proud Mom of 2 daughters. My oldest is in college, and we love watching her play with her university marching band. My youngest is a Senior in high school this year, though  it seems like just yesterday she was starting Kindergarten! We have a dog who thinks he is the most important member of the family. When we have free time together, we love to do puzzles. We have even competed in a few jigsaw speed competitions!

Go Blue! I earned my undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of Michigan, with minors in Early Childhood Education, Science, and Social Studies.

Go Eagles! I later completed my Master’s degree in Reading at Eastern Michigan University.

Go Mom! When my girls were younger, I went back to earn my Administration Certification through an MDE-approved program called Path to Leadership.

2025 marks my 25th year in education. In that time, I have had the opportunity to be a:

  • Classroom Teacher: Kindergarten-3rd grade

  • Instructional Coach

  • Literacy Specialist/Interventionist

  • Summer School Principal

  • MTSS Coordinator

I have also been lucky to spend a lot of time with Yvonne Taylor. Her leadership and insight are invaluable. The love she has poured into Farley Hill, will always reach the hearts of those that come through our doors.

I really value getting to know people one-on-one, and I truly look forward to meeting Farley families old and new!

Sincerely,

Danielle Birdyshaw
