PCHS Class of 2022 Students & Families, PCS Staff, and Board of Education Leaders,
After much discussion and checking of weather forecasts, we have made the difficult decision to move tomorrow morning's graduation ceremony indoors to the PCHS Gym.
Rationale:
- The forecast for 10am on Sunday is currently 62 degrees and cloudy with a 37% chance of rain showers. Even without rain, the morning dew will likely not have dissipated due to the chillier overnight temperatures.
- Our photographer is now only available for the 10am slot, and we want students and families to have this special day captured professionally.
- We know many families have plans for after the ceremony, and we don't want to get in the way of these by moving the time of the event.
Logistical Updates:
- Based on the capacity of the PCHS Gym, the largest indoor venue in the district, each graduate can have 6 guests. Students received their 6 tickets at the dress rehearsal on Thursday morning in a manila envelope. If you do not need all 6 tickets, you may pass them along to someone who does or give them to a PCHS staff member in the Main Office on Sunday morning to redistribute. The small number of students who did not attend the rehearsal and have not yet picked up this manila envelope with tickets will need to stop at the PCHS Main Office upon their arrival Sunday morning.
- Graduates, NHS Ushers, and graduation speakers are to report to the PCHS Auditorium at 9:00am.
- PCS Staff and BOE members should take their assigned seats in the Gym by 9:45am.
- Families, please be seated in the PCHS Gym by 9:45am.
- The event will still be live-streamed and can be accessed via this link.
While we would have preferred to enjoy this very special event together in Pirate Stadium, we are confident the move indoors is the right decision after considering all factors. We look forward to making this a beautiful and memorable experience, and can't wait to celebrate our Class of 2022 one final time!
