stay safe stay healthy

PCHS Students & Parents/Guardians,

For our in-person learners who are quarantining now, and for any student who may have to quarantine in the future, here is guidance for how to engage in your learning from home, some resources to support you, and how to keep open lines of communication with PCHS!

The Weekly Learning Schedule

  • Zoom into each of your classes the first time they meet for the week (1st-4th on Monday, 5th-7th on Tuesday). These are the official times where attendance will be taken. Plan to log in right at the start of each class, unless specified otherwise by a specific teacher via their Brightspace homepage. Your teachers will also specify via their weekly agenda posted in Brightspace whether you should plan to Zoom in at any other points across the week beyond that first attendance check-in.
  • Brightspace will be the home base for your content and assignments for your courses across the week, and much of the work will be done on your own time, outside of Zooms. Your daily ritual will be to check your Brightspace courses and to follow along and submit assignments in line with the weekly agenda for each course. If the agenda specifies assignments for "in-person" versus "PVA (Pinckney Virtual Academy)" students, you should assume the PVA assignments are the ones for you unless your teacher specifies otherwise.
  • Fridays will be much the same as you've been experiencing so far this year.
  • Troubleshooting: If you face Zoom issues or are having trouble navigating a course's expectations, reach out directly to your teacher first, then to Mrs. McBride, Director of Instruction, at jmcbride@pinckneypirates.org or 225.5516 if you need further support. If you have a question about attendance in MiStar, reach out to the PCHS Main Office at 225.5500.

Key Resources

Informing the School Re: Self-Quarantine

  • Quarantining While Waiting for Test Results: If your student is learning remotely due to waiting for COVID test results, please inform the school via the Attendance line: 225.5510 or hs-attendance@pinckneypirates.org. Informing the school helps us to be proactive and prepared for contact tracing in the event a test comes back positive, and ensures we capture accurate attendance for your learner. Thank you for helping us to remain vigilant and ahead of this virus to the greatest extent possible! We all want to stay in school!

Please feel free to reach out with questions. Our hope is that even if/while quarantined, you can continue to feel connected to your learning and progressing successfully in your courses.

Stay safe and healthyPirates!

PS. Do you have an "8th Hour" on your schedule? If so, proceed in this class on your own time, without Zooms, using the Brightspace course as your source for weekly agendas, content, and assignments. 8th Hours require extra agency on your part! You can do this. 💪
